Spoiler: It’s handmade, small-batch, and woman-powered. No fast fashion here.
Let’s face it: there’s no shortage of swimwear out there. But behind all the trendy prints and two-day shipping, there’s a bigger story. One that most brands aren’t too eager to share.
At Sandy Bottom, we don’t just care about how things look. We care about how they’re made, who makes them, and what the process supports. So yes, we sleep very well at night.
Here’s how we do it and why it matters.
Step One: Ditch the Conveyor Belt
We don’t mass-produce. Ever.
Our pieces are made in small batches, not warehouses. That means no endless stock, no overproduction, and no waste. When you wear Sandy Bottom, you’re wearing something intentional not something pumped out in the thousands.
This also means some styles are limited (and when they’re gone, they’re gone). But we’re okay with that—because we’re not here to make more. We’re here to make better.
Handmade in Colombia & Italy, By Women, For Women
We work directly with female artisans around the world. Our macramé styles are handcrafted in Colombia, knot by knot, by women who’ve inherited the skill and turned it into a livelihood.
In Italy, our seamless suits are handmade by a small team of women who have been producing high-end swimwear for over 15 years. Their craftsmanship shows in every edge, every curve, and every second-skin fit.
This isn’t charity. It’s collaboration, empowerment, and fair pay. Every piece you buy helps women build businesses, support their families, and work on their own terms.
So yeah, no shady factories, no middlemen, and no cutting corners.
Accessories with Intention
We don’t stop at swimwear. Our hats, bags, and cover-ups are also sourced from women artisans using traditional techniques and materials native to their region.
Every accessory you see on our site is wearable art, made with pride and purpose. When you carry it, you're literally carrying someone's craft and their story with you.
What You’re Wearing, Really
You’re not just putting on a swimsuit. You’re putting on craftsmanship, story, and strength.
You’re wearing something that was designed with intention and made by hands, not machines.
And honestly? That feels way better than fast fashion ever could.
We’re Not "Sustainable." We’re Just Not Wasteful.
We don’t throw around buzzwords. Are we sustainable? We’d rather show you than tell you.
We produce small. We produce slowly. And we produce with people we actually know.
That’s how we do business and that’s how we sleep at night.
