Some pieces are woven slowly, by hand, the way they have been for generations.
The Chican Hat by WOMA Hats is handcrafted in Colombia from 100% handwoven Iraca palm, a natural fibre known for its lightness, durability, and beautiful texture. Every hat is created using traditional weaving techniques passed down through generations of artisans.
From the moment the fibres are harvested to the final shaping of the hat, the process can take up to 4–6 weeks to complete. The palm is carefully prepared before an artisan begins the meticulous work of weaving the fibres strand by strand by hand, creating the intricate open-weave texture that gives the Chican its distinctive character.
The hat features a refined open-weave crown, allowing air to move through the fibres for a breathable, lightweight feel. Perfect for warm climates and long days under the sun. A hand-braided band in natural and faded rose tones adds subtle detail while maintaining the hat’s organic aesthetic.
Effortless yet sophisticated, the Chican blends rustic charm with quiet elegance, making it an easy piece to wear from beach days to sunset dinners.
Like all handcrafted pieces, no two hats are exactly alike. Each one carries the mark of the artisan who made it.
