Over 10 hours of hand-knotting. Crafted by Juliana and her team in Medellín, Colombia.

Traditional macramé. Reimagined for modern swimwear.

The Sombra Macramé One Piece is where timeless craftsmanship meets contemporary design.

Hand-knotted macramé cups create a dramatic plunging neckline that frames the body with remarkable texture and artistry. The sleek black silhouette balances the intricacy of the handcrafted detailing, while the seamless body smooths and sculpts without compromising comfort. Turn around and the multi-strap open back reveals an architectural finish that's striking from every angle.

Bold, sculptural, and undeniably elegant, Sombra was designed for women who appreciate craftsmanship as much as confidence.

The Hands Behind It

Every Sombra One Piece is handcrafted by Juliana and her team in Medellín, Colombia, where traditional macramé techniques are preserved through modern design.

Each swimsuits requires more than 10 hours of patient hand-knotting before it is carefully incorporated into the swimsuit by skilled women artisans. Every knot is tied by hand, reflecting generations of craftsmanship that simply cannot be replicated by machines.

Why It's Priced This Way

Every Sombra One Piece begins long before the swimsuit is assembled. Each macramé cup is individually hand-knotted over the course of more than 10 hours, with every knot shaping the texture, structure, and character of the finished piece.

That level of craftsmanship simply isn't compatible with mass production. Instead of simplifying the process, we choose to preserve it by supporting skilled women artisans in Medellín who are paid fairly for their expertise and creating swimwear that celebrates the value of true handcraft.

Limited Production

The number of Sombra One Pieces we create is determined by craftsmanship, not demand.

Hand-knotting every macramé cup is a slow, highly skilled process, and there is no shortcut to doing it well. Rather than asking our artisans to work faster, we choose to produce only what they can create with the care and precision the piece deserves. Once each production run is complete, Sombra retires until the next collection.

At Sandy Bottom, every piece is curated with intention and crafted with care. To keep your swimsuit looking vibrant and beautiful, we recommend the following:

• Avoid sitting on rough surfaces to prevent snags or fabric damage.
• After swimming, gently hand wash with mild detergent to remove salt, chlorine, and chemicals.
• Lay flat to dry in a shaded area. Never use a dryer or lay in direct sunlight.
• Apply sunscreen and oils with care, as they may stain delicate fabrics.

Remember, your Sandy Bottom swimsuit is a small-batch work of art. With the right care, it will stay stunning season after season.

“This isn’t fast fashion.
This is swimwear with soul. This is resort wear with resonance.
This is style with a purpose.”

This One's Personal

I grew up on the shores of St. Lucia, where the water is warm, the days are long, and the women are strong. That island spirit shaped me. It gave me an eye for beauty, a love for bold colour, and a deep respect for women who do it all with grace.

Sandy Bottom started with a simple idea: what if I could create something that honoured the women I grew up around and the woman I was becoming?

When my daughter left for university, I decided to show her something important: that reinvention doesn’t have an age limit. That it’s never too late to build something from scratch. That betting on yourself is always worth it.

But this brand isn’t just about me. It’s about women everywhere. The artisans from Colombia to Italy, Bali to Brazil who hand make every piece with skill, heart, and tradition. The women keeping generations of craftsmanship alive while shaping futures of their own.. And the customers who choose slow fashion over fast trends, and impact over impulse.

Every Sandy Bottom piece is carefully curated and helps support real women with real stories. Women earning fair wages. Women preserving culture and craft. Women lifting each other up.

This isn’t fast fashion. This is swimwear with soul. This is resort wear with resonance. This is style with a purpose.

This is an international sisterhood.

xoxo,
Sanya.
